Unfortunately most beauty products contain endocrine disruptors, a class of synthetic chemicals that cause havoc with our hormones.

On most ingredients labels you'll see the word fragrance or parfum, which seems harmless but is actually a catch-all term that can hide the presence of a family of synthetic compounds known as phthalates. These are among the most studied and most harmful commonly used ingredients out there.

Parabens, BHA, BHT and cyclic silicones are among the others — all standard in mainstream skincare, and of course all absent from ours.

Now the real issue here is that phthalates and the rest aren’t just bad for our health in the long term, but our beauty today.

By interfering with the delicate balance of our endocrine system (oestrogen, testosterone etc.) the very products that promise beauty and youthfulness actively work against us.

Because it is when we are at our most healthy that we look (and feel) our best.
